In our hyper-connected world, local is the new global. As Edible magazine publishers, we spend all of our time getting to know our local farmers, chefs, artisans, distillers and other unique businesses and celebrating them by telling their stories. We created Doorstep Market to make it possible for these special local businesses to reach beyond the confines of their own communities--in some cases, beyond the end of their own country roads, and to make the best of Hudson Valley local available to everyone. 

Our mission at Doorstep Market is to bring our audience closer to the people and places that make the Hudson River region such a wonderful place.

We Are Not a Tech Company! 

Our entire team lives in the Hudson River region. Many of us are raising our families here. Some of us were born here. We know what a fresh-dug local potato tastes like. We know the artisan who makes the best preserved lemons in all of New York (hint: he's in Amenia) and small-batch salted caramel sauce that just might change your life. We know the secret swimming holes and foraging spots, a hotel so under-the-radar that it has no website or address, and where to slurp up handmade paccheri with braised lion's mane mushrooms and schmaltz. Have we mentioned donuts? Yep, we know donuts. Local is our passion. Amazon, we're not.

Our Team 

Louise Newsome

Market Director, Hudson River Doorstep Market

Louise  was born in Liverpool, England and came to the USA in 1987, first to Los Angeles and then made New York her permanent home in 1993. Louise has been an entrepreneur most of her professional life with a period of time where she was the VP of Programming at a national professional women’s networking organization. Louise left that position about 3 years ago to focus her efforts on two personal projects; The Newsome family business Coopers Daughter Spirits in Claverack, NY a unique line of spirits made from locally grown and sourced ingredients from the Hudson Valley and Trade and Prosper an association supporting artisanal business owners through marketing, events and professional development. Bringing all of her professional experience to the Doorstep Market was the perfect next step. 

Jennifer Solow

Founder, Brand Diva, Publisher Edible Hudson Valley

The Hudson Valley has been Jennifer’s home since 2002. Introduced to Columbia County by her husband, Tommy (see below), she immediately adopted his love of the land and its people. Formerly Managing Partner/ Creative Director of kirshenbaum bond & partners and named one of New York's Young Guns by the Art Director's Club, Jennifer  left her career in advertising to become a National bestselling author and publisher. She soon found herself with a barn-full of garden tools and tractors, an ever-expanding kitchen garden, and the cherished sort of neighbors that seem to exist only in this neck of the woods. Along with her husband, she was a founding contributor to the Berkeley Food Institute. Jennifer is honored to be at the helm of Edible Hudson Valley, and excited to bring everyone one (Door)step closer. 

Tom Jacoby

Founder, The Business Guy, Co-publisher Edible Hudson Valley

Tommy’s love of the Hudson Valley runs as deep and true as if the place itself was his family. An accomplished businessman, Tommy drives home to East Chatham and changes from his business suit to Carhartts as fast as possible. Tommy was raised in Columbia County, and while he’s lived in many places over the course of his life, he has always come home to these sacred lands. Along with his wife (see above), he was a founding contributor to the Berkeley Food Institute. Tommy has many hobbies and interests but perhaps his proudest moment was pulling in the 9500 pound class on a '54 Case in the Columbia County Fair.

Jonathan Taee

Founder, Director of Operations, The Guy to Call When Your Email Melts Down

Jonathan ended up in the Hudson Valley because he fell in love with a farmer. His wife owns and operates Ironwood Farm, and now he finds his house full of kids, mud and organic vegetables, and his table surrounded by a beautiful community of Hudson Valley families. When he's not cooking, he's running his digital agency Rhizome Consulting, assisting in the operation of Edible Hudson Valley, and now enjoying the rewarding work at Doorstep Market. He built this website and most of the mechanics that make it tick. He is excited to help connect the Hudson Valley incredible Makers with an expansive audience.

Need a Hudson Valley donut recommendation? Look no further than our resident donut connoisseur! From networking at local events to interacting with artisans and makers on Instagram, Colleen has been supporting the Hudson Valley small business community for over five years. Prior to Edible Hudson Valley and Doorstep Market, Colleen was at The Valley Table and helped to manage Restaurant Week. She is inspired every day by the innovative and creative small business owners she gets to work with and is excited to continue supporting them through the Doorstep Marketplace.

Maryellen Case

Friend to the Maker

Maryellen Case is New York through and through. Born and raised in Western New York, she moved to New York City to pursue what would become a vibrantly successful career in marketing and publishing. But despite her love for the fast-paced city lifestyle, Maryellen missed the natural beauty and history of upstate New York. In 2007, she made the move before it was cool and settled in Beacon. From there, Maryellen began forging her career in the Hudson Valley, establishing MCaseMedia, Inc., as a marketing, sales, and business development consulting agency. Her outside-the-box business sense has cemented her as a leader in the Hudson Valley publishing industry and helped to revolutionize the Hudson Valley small business community. Maryellen has always seen extraordinary potential in the Hudson Valley and looks forward to shining a light on it through the Doorstep Marketplace.

Julia Sexton

Ex-cook, Word-Guy, Knows Everyone, a Good Listener & Editor-in-Chief

Julia comes to Doorstep Market as a national award-winning food writer, cookbook author, and the Editor-in-Chief of Edible Hudson Valley. Raised between New York City and the Hudson Valley, she spent much of her childhood running dirty and wild in Woodstock and Washington County. After college (and some very badly-behaved years manning the pans in restaurants), Julia turned her hand to food writing. For the last 15 years, Julia has travelling all over New York—from the farmland to the City—profiling chefs, farmers, foragers, distillers, and brewers while cranking out restaurant reviews and round-ups. Though technically this is her “work,” finally, Julia just documents her adventures with all the best people in New York State. Old enough to pine for the fun and dangerous days of New York City, Julia now lives with her family in Westchester, and is happy to keep a foot in both the City and the Hudson Valley.
